IEA Sixth Form Essay Competition 2020
Congratulations to Harry Houillon (OS 2020) who has won first place in The Dorian Fisher Memorial Prize as part of the IEA Sixth Form Essay Competition 2020.
The competition involves picking three economics questions from a set range and answering them in three short essays. Harry completed the essays while he was in Sixth Form at Sevenoaks. He chose the following questions:
- Is there anything that cannot be given an economic value?
- "Cities and their connections, rather than nations, are now the key units of the world economy”. Is this true and if so what are the implications?
- Identify an area of economics that you think should be given more attention in the A-Level or IB syllabus and say why this is so.
The Institute of Economic Affairs annually hosts the essay competition which is open to those who are studying International Baccalaureate or A Level and equivalent at institutions outside the UK. This year saw a record-breaking number of schools enter with competitors from all across the globe.
Well done to Harry on this excellent achievement.
